Health Assessments
Buderim Medical Centre offers annual Health Assessments for those aged 45-49 years old, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and people over the age of 75 years old. The federal government recognises that at certain times in life, and certain populations, benefit from extended care and provide a larger medicare rebate. At Buderim Medical Centre, the doctors do not charge an out of pocket cost for these assessments.
Health Assessments are performed by one of our Practice Nurses and then reviewed by your Doctor. The assessment represents an opportunity to consider areas of your health that may not have recently been covered during routine medical appointments. They allow us to identify any existing or potential health issues, so that you can make more informed decisions about your health. In QLD we perform our annual drivers licence medical with the over 75 HA.
The focus of Health Assessments is preventative care – solving problems before they happen, and identifying things that can be done to help you live a better life for as long as possible.
Most health assessments take between 20-40 minutes and involve a number of questions relating to your general health, as well as a series of simple tests. These may include:
- Vision check
- Hearing check
- Blood pressure check
- Review of current medications
- Immunisation status
- Memory review
- Height, weight and waist circumference measurements
